Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While playing web poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly competes in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I believe Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.
