Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet.
